Looking for a resolution that you will actually stick to this year because it’s something you actually want to do? Maybe you didn’t push your limits in 2016 or just haven’t done anything that was exciting enough to tell the story. Here are four tried and tested ways (by us!) to get a little more adventurous in your every day life and get out of your rut of 2016…
1. Try new local foods
Have you ever been hesitant to try something new because it smells funky or just doesn’t look that appetizing? You may surprise yourself. Nine out of ten times you’ll try it and absolutely love it. I can’t count how many people I’ve told to try Lunenburg onion pudding. It’s a grayish sausage that you can eat as is and everyone who I’ve ever convinced to try it say it’s BOMB. so next time you scrunch up your nose when offered cod tongues and cheeks, think again because you may surprise yourself!
2. Get out of your comfort zone
Just because you’re not a natural athlete doesn’t mean you can’t have fun doing physical activities. You don’t have to go on a 6 day excursion to enjoy the great outdoors. Plan a hike with some friends or family on a beginner level trail and work your way up. Nobody has ever said that time spent outdoors is time wasted. So next time your at the Bay of Fundy; rent that paddle board or if you’re in Cape Breton hike a smaller section of the Highlands! Trust us, it’s worth it.
3. Go somewhere new every weekend
There’s always a million excuses to not do something and never enough to do something. The best bet is to just get out there. You don’t have to drive across the country to see something worth seeing. It’s only a 5 hour drive from Halifax to the Cape Breton Highlands and less of a drive to the south shore or the valley. The maritimes are full of so many different landscapes that you could miss if you don’t just get out there!
4. Be a tourist in your hometown
You know that museum you drive by everyday on your morning commute? Have you ever been there before? I didn’t think so. I didn’t realize how much fun my hometown was until I moved away from it. Check out different events for your home town and take part! For example: If you’re from Cape Breton then check out the miners museum! It’s a rad little place with tons of history lessons.
Just keep your ears open for what’s coming up!
So get out there and try one or all of our resolution suggestions. We guarantee you won’t be disappointed and hope you enjoy doing them as much as we love sharing about it.🎆
